This weekend, the historic 63rd edition of the Art Fiesta festival will take place at Riverside Park in New Smyrna Beach. The two-day event promises a rich tapestry of artistic expression, live performances, and delectable cuisine. Nearly 190 artists from across the United States and beyond will gather to display their creations across nine distinct mediums, including oil paintings, ceramics, photography, and wearable art. Event coordinator Jonah Powers expressed excitement about the fully booked lineup, emphasizing the festival's vibrant atmosphere.
A highlight of this year’s festival is the introduction of the exclusive "Art Fiesta Lounge" at the Brannon Center, offering attendees an enhanced experience with previews, special entertainment, and opportunities to meet the artists. This new feature complements the already expansive event, which includes seven live music acts and a variety of food trucks. The festival has also moved to its second year at Riverside Drive, a location praised for its spacious layout and positive community feedback. Powers noted that the transition has allowed for improvements, making this year’s event even more enjoyable.
The festival not only celebrates creativity but also fosters connections within the community. For many artists like Steven Hardock, a veteran participant since 1971, the event has grown into one of the best shows in the region. Hardock, who specializes in watercolor paintings of local landmarks, appreciates the increased prize money and the chance to reconnect with former students. The Art Fiesta continues to thrive thanks to the dedication of both longtime and new attendees, ensuring it remains a cherished cultural tradition in New Smyrna Beach.
The festival runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, inviting everyone to immerse themselves in the city's dynamic art scene. Through such events, communities come together to celebrate creativity, fostering a spirit of unity and appreciation for the arts.
