Brandon “The Cannon” Adams is all set to make his mark once again as he steps into the ring against Andreas Katzourakis on Friday at the Corey Studios in Atlanta on DAZN and YouTube. This 10-round junior middleweight matchup serves as the final fight of Overtime Boxing’s OTX junior middleweight tournament.

Adams Readies for a Comeback Battle

Adams' Journey to the Final

Adams, with a record of 26-3 (16 KOs), reached the final by securing a unanimous decision over Francisco Daniel Veron on August 30. On the same night, Katzourakis, who stands at 14-0 (10 KOs), advanced with a split decision win against Robert Terry. This journey has been a significant one for Adams, who had a layoff of more than three years after his eighth-round technical knockout win against Serhii Bohachuk in 2021. Even the fearsome Vergil Ortiz Jnr couldn't achieve what Adams did in that fight. However, due to a dispute with Banner Promotions, Adams couldn't fully capitalize on his career-best win.

“This tournament has given me the chance to show that I'm still among the top despite the setbacks and layoffs,” Adams expressed to BoxingScene. “Katzourakis has a bit of a bully-like attitude. He likes to come forward and engage in a brawl. That's his style. But whatever he thinks he's good at, I believe I'm superior. Whether it's boxing or fighting on the inside, I have the skills and the determination to get through this fight and future ones.”

Adams, a professional boxer for 13 years, has also competed at middleweight over the years. One of his notable achievements was a title challenge against then-champion Jermall Charlo in 2019, which he unfortunately lost by unanimous decision. He also emerged victorious against Shane Mosley Jnr in 2018, and this victory has gained more significance with the second-generation star's recent resurgence.

Adams' Future Plans

At 35, the Los Angeles native Adams is open to the right fights at 160lbs but is focused on first achieving everything possible at 154, which is one of boxing's most competitive divisions.

“I hope they set me up with the big-name fighters,” said Adams. “I just need the opportunity to showcase my skills against them.”
