Provo, Utah is set to witness an exciting football showdown as BYU football prepares to close out the 2024 regular season against the Houston Cougars. This will mark the first time these two programs meet as conference rivals, having both joined the Big 12 Conference in 2023. On Monday, it was announced that the November 30 game between them would be placed on a six-day hold, with the kickoff time and TV info not to be announced until after Saturday, November 23.
Houston Football's Big Showdown
The regular-season finale between Houston Football and #14/15 BYU is now a six-day selection. The anticipation builds as fans await the kick time and network announcement following Saturday's contests. This isn't the first time a BYU game (Baylor and UCF) has faced such a hold this season. Potential TV spots for the November 30 game include 10 a.m. (MST) on ESPN2 and FS1, 1:30 p.m. on FOX, 5 p.m. on FOX, or a Big 12 After Dark special on ESPN.BYU currently stands at 9-1 overall and 6-1 in Big 12 play after their first loss of the season last week against Kansas. Houston, on the other hand, is 4-6 overall and 3-4 in conference after falling to Arizona last Friday in Tucson. BYU will be on the road this Saturday to take on Arizona State before hosting the Cougars in red. Houston hosts Baylor this Saturday and then travels to Provo for only the second time in their program's history.BYU leads the all-time series against Houston 3-0. The first all-Cougar matchup was in 2013 when Taysom Hill showcased his skills with 417 passing yards and 128 rushing yards, leading BYU to a thrilling 47-46 victory. Houston's first visit to Provo was in 2014, a Thursday night game that BYU won 33-25.
