Art Chase, a well-known figure in collegiate athletics, is making a significant return to The Citadel. After nearly 25 years at Duke University, Chase has accepted the position of athletic director at this military college, where he previously held roles during two separate stints. General Glenn Walters, the president of The Citadel, expressed his enthusiasm for Chase's appointment, highlighting his extensive experience and deep understanding of the institution’s mission.

Chase's career path has been marked by notable achievements and leadership. In the 1990s, he began his journey at The Citadel as an assistant sports information director before moving on to Presbyterian College. He then returned to The Citadel as the sports information director, only to depart for Duke University in 2001. During his time at Duke, Chase played a pivotal role in the success of various sports programs, including lacrosse and football. His contributions have been instrumental in securing multiple national and conference championships.

Chase and his wife, Kaye, are both honored to rejoin The Citadel community. They are committed to fostering an environment that prioritizes the development of principled leaders while enhancing the experiences of cadet-student-athletes. With a focus on collaboration and engagement, Chase aims to work closely with stakeholders to uphold the unique values and traditions of The Citadel. This new chapter represents not only a personal milestone for Chase but also a promising opportunity for the future of athletics at the institution.
