AURORA – The Colorado High School Activities Association has recently made an exciting announcement regarding the preseason polls for the 2024-25 boys basketball season. This is a significant event that holds great importance for the basketball community across the state.

Unveiling the Preseason Rankings for Colorado Boys Basketball

Class 1A

In Class 1A, the preseason polls have set the stage for an intense competition. Cheyenne Wells takes the top spot, followed closely by McClave. Flatirons Academy, Stratton, Otis, Granada, Holly, Denver Jewish Day, Elbert, Evangel Christian Academy, and several other teams also make their presence felt. These teams are all vying for the top honors in this division.

Arickaree/Woodlin, Kim/Branson, Pikes Peak Christian, Idalia, Peetz, Sierra Grande, Front Range Baptist, Nucla, De Beque, Springfield, Denver Waldorf, Ouray, Sangre De Cristo, Eads, and Caliche are also receiving votes, indicating their potential to make a mark in the season.

Class 2A

Class 2A sees Simla leading the way, with Crowley County and Limon not far behind. Sanford, Plateau Valley, Heritage Christian, Merino, Byers, Holyoke, and Loveland Classical are also among the top-ranked teams. Belleview Christian, Fowler, Mancos, Bishop Machebeuf, Akron, Golden View Classical Academy, Sedgwick County, Burlington, Vail Christian, and Vail Mountain are receiving votes, adding to the excitement.

The competition in this class is fierce, and every team is looking to prove themselves on the court.

Class 3A

Yuma claims the top rank in Class 3A, followed by Forge Christian and Resurrection Christian. Strasburg, The Vanguard School, Salida, Highland, Banning Lewis Academy, Windsor Charter Academy, and Centauri are also in the mix. Manual, Denver Christian, Peyton, Bayfield, Ignacio, Liberty Common, Skyview Academy, Colorado Springs Christian, Rye, Atlas Preparatory School, Cedaredge, Platte Canyon, Buena Vista, Lake County, St. Mary’s, Thomas MacLaren School, Wray, Grand Valley, Meeker, and Platte Valley are receiving votes, showing the depth of talent in this division.

The teams in Class 3A are ready to battle it out for supremacy.

Class 4A

Kent Denver leads the charge in Class 4A, with Colorado Academy and Holy Family close behind. Pagosa Springs, DSST: Montview, Aspen, DSST: Green Valley Ranch, Peak To Peak, Denver West, and Fort Lupton are also among the top-ranked teams. Sterling, DSST: Conservatory Green, Basalt, Jefferson Academy, Timnath, Coal Ridge, D’Evelyn, DSST: Cedar, University, Berthoud, Eagle Ridge Academy, Elizabeth, Prospect Ridge Academy, Steamboat Springs, Alamosa, Stargate School, The Academy, The Classical Academy, Eaton, Lamar, Manitou Springs, and Weld Central are receiving votes, highlighting the competitiveness of this class.

The teams in Class 4A are gearing up for an exciting season.

Class 5A

Windsor takes the lead in Class 5A, followed by Dakota Ridge and Mead. Lewis-Palmer and Mesa Ridge are also in the top ranks. Lutheran, Discovery Canyon, Frederick, Green Mountain, and several other teams are vying for a spot in the playoffs. Longmont, Golden, Severance, Thompson Valley, Evergreen, Mullen, Ponderosa, Silver Creek, Pueblo South, Air Academy, Montrose, Thomas Jefferson, Standley Lake, Falcon, Battle Mountain, Durango, Mountain View, and Sand Creek are receiving votes, adding to the anticipation.

The teams in Class 5A are ready to showcase their skills on the basketball court.

Class 6A

Ralston Valley tops the rankings in Class 6A, followed by Smoky Hill and Valor Christian. Mountain Vista, Eaglecrest, Rangeview, Chaparral, Regis Jesuit, and Cherry Creek are also among the top teams. Thunderridge, Rock Canyon, Fossil Ridge, Denver East, Fruita Monument, Overland, Broomfield, Liberty, Doherty, George Washington, Legend, Vista Peak Prep, Cherokee Trail, Vista Ridge, Arapahoe, Arvada West, Northfield, and Columbine are receiving votes, indicating the high level of competition in this class.

The teams in Class 6A are determined to make their mark in the season.

The boys basketball season is set to culminate with state tournament play from March 13 through 15, where these preseason rankings will play a crucial role in determining the path to victory.
