Ant and Dec, the hosts of "I'm A Celebrity," have expressed their disappointment in campmate Dean McCullough following Tuesday's episode. The Radio 1 host was selected through a public vote to take on the latest Bushtucker Trial, dubbed The Sinister Sarcophagus. Dean became the first campmate to utter the words "I'm a celebrity get me out of here" to halt the task and managed to achieve maximum stars, each representing a meal for the camp. Now, the former SM:TV Live presenters have shared their views on Dean's failure to complete what they described as the "easiest task" of the show while appearing on the newly revamped companion show, "I'm A Celebrity Unpacked." They were chatting with Joel Dommett, Sam Thompson, and Kemi Rodgers and admitted they wished the audience at home could have seen the full trial.
Dean's Journey and His Words
Dean's actions during the trial have sparked a lot of discussion. As he was told he was picked to undertake the challenge, he asked about a sarcophagus, clearly expressing his fear. When it was described as a big coffin, his concerns only grew. Upon reaching the trial area, he was confronted with a mummy figurine that he would be locked into for the duration, while being asked Egypt-themed questions. For each correct answer, a star would descend, which he had to release using only his mouth within a 30-second window. Clearly unimpressed, he quipped to Ant and Dec, "You're so extra this series, so extra!" He then added, "I went to Egypt years ago, but I wasn't paying attention."During the trial, as he climbed into the sarcophagus, he confessed, "This is my worst nightmare because I can't get out." Almost immediately, sand filled the body compartment, and mealworms and crickets were poured into his head compartment. After nailing two questions and getting the stars, it all became too much for him. Overcome with emotion, he blurted out the iconic phrase, "I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!"Fans were quick to react on social media. On X, one viewer said, "Dean the weasel. More voting for him," while another added, "Oh Dean get ready for a few more trials." One more viewer said, "Probably the easiest trial in I'm a celeb history! Dean is definitely going to be up for every trial now!"Those predictions have come true as Dean was voted to do the next challenge along with GK Barry, with the upcoming trial dubbed Drown in the Dumps."I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here" continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX, followed by "I'm A Celeb Unpacked" on ITV2.
