Last week, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association released its Fall Rankings, and Denison University's men's tennis team made significant waves. Three junior student-athletes were honored, each leaving their mark on the national tennis scene.Honorees and Their Achievements
Ethan Green
Green's fall season was nothing short of remarkable. As a runner-up at the ITA Cup, he went 11 - 3 in singles competition, becoming the first Denison individual to make the finals at ITAs. Now a three-time ITA All-American, he knocked off the fourth-ranked individual, Alex Feies of Carnegie Mellon, in the semifinals and had previously defeated eighth-ranked John Lasanajak of Emory in the quarterfinals. Green is currently ranked second in the fall singles rankings, a testament to his exceptional skills.
Green's journey to this ranking was filled with hard work and determination. His ability to perform under pressure and defeat some of the top players in the country is truly impressive. His success has not only brought pride to Denison University but has also inspired the younger players on the team.
Kael Shah
Shah had an equally outstanding fall. Alongside Ethan Green, he led the Big Red as the tandem is ranked second nationally by the ITA. The duo put together a 10 - 3 record in doubles play during the fall and reached the finals of the ITA Cup before falling in the championship match. They also picked up ranked wins over the fourth-ranked and seventh-ranked squads in the ITA Fall Rankings.
Shah's individual performance was also remarkable. After compiling a 10 - 2 singles record, he is ranked sixth overall by the ITA in the fall rankings. He logged Top 10 wins over fourth-ranked Alex Feies of Carnegie Mellon, seventh-ranked Efe Comu of Emory, and ninth ranked Chakor Rajendra of Johns Hopkins. His consistent performance throughout the fall season has solidified his place among the top players in the country.
Jacob Patterson
Patterson also made his mark in the fall rankings. He is currently ranked 38th in the top 50 fall rankings. The junior went 5 - 3 during the fall season and earned a Top 50 win against 44th ranked Evan Erb of Washington & Lee. Four of his eight matches were against players ranked in the Fall Top 50 singles rankings, showcasing his ability to compete against tough opponents.
Patterson's success is a testament to his hard work and dedication. He has been a key contributor to the Denison tennis team and his ranking reflects his consistent performance. His achievements have added to the team's overall success and have set a high standard for the future.
