Following the highly anticipated fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson, Soul City Boxing has witnessed a remarkable surge in interest. The sport now has a waiting list of eager individuals eager to join the gym and embark on their boxing journey.

According to Netflix, an astonishing 108 million viewers tuned in to watch this epic battle. Among them was 28-year-old Dakota Hill from Toledo. Hill has always had a connection to boxing as many people around him have been involved in the sport. He recalls, "I've had a lot of people around me that have done it throughout their past. A couple of friends with golden gloves, champions and all that, so I came up around it, watching it." However, it was the Tyson and Paul fight that truly inspired him. He said, "I didn't fully mature into wanting to do it until after seeing the Jake Paul and Mike Tyson fight. Watching that kind of inspired me to see that there is no age limit to what you can do and achieve as a man." This fight served as a turning point for Hill, leading him to push his boundaries and take the first step towards becoming a boxer.

Section 2: The Aftermath at Soul City Gym

Co-owner RoShawn Jones noticed a significant increase in interest right after the fight. Approximately 10 young kids signed up and three adults joined as well. Currently, there is a waitlist with 20 people on it, and the gym's goal is to welcome everyone. Jones emphasized their family-oriented approach, stating, "We are a family organization so when you come here, we treat you like family no matter your race, age, none of that." The gym not only helps people get off the streets but also addresses mental health issues such as stress, anger, and anxiety.

In order to accommodate more people and fulfill their mission, Jones announced their expansion plans. One new facility will be located across the street from the current gym, while another will be on the east side. These expansions will provide more opportunities for people to challenge themselves and try something new. Jones said, "Our overall goal is to help kids fight childhood obesity, help kids fight bullying, keep kids off the street and out of gangs, and also show them how you can graduate high school and college. So we will open our doors to basically help people."

Hill himself has noticed the positive impact of the boxing classes on his mental strength. He shared, "That's the hardest thing is the mental strength to be able to achieve the condition and maintain it in between fights and not let yourself go." Boxing has taught him discipline and the ability to overcome challenges. It has become a tool for him to build resilience and face life's difficulties with a newfound confidence.As for the completion of the other facilities, Jones is hopeful that it will happen within the next six months. This expansion will further enhance the gym's ability to serve the community and make a positive impact on people's lives.
