Lynda Elizabeth Miller, a remarkable woman who lived her life with unwavering dedication and an insatiable curiosity, has left behind a legacy of love and learning. Born in Pittsburgh to John and Helen Gavula, Lynda's journey was marked by both personal and professional milestones that spanned across the country. Her early years were filled with academic achievements, culminating in her graduation as a registered nurse from Saint Margaret Memorial Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Following her heart, Lynda embarked on an adventurous chapter when she married Dr. Donald S. Miller in Fishertown. Together, they ventured into the untamed wilderness of Alaska, where Lynda embraced her role as a flight nurse and educator for health aides in remote villages. This experience not only broadened her horizons but also deepened her commitment to helping others. After five years in Alaska, the couple returned to Pennsylvania, where Lynda pursued further education. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Professional Arts from Saint Joseph’s College in Maine and later became a physician assistant from Saint Francis College in Loretto, excelling in her new profession.
Lynda's passion for nature and simple pleasures shone through in every aspect of her life. Whether it was listening to birds sing in the woods or encouraging her daughters to dance in the spring rain, she found joy in the world around her. Her zest for life and willingness to share knowledge inspired those who knew her. As we remember Lynda, her legacy of living fully and embracing each moment will continue to inspire future generations. A celebration of her life is planned for the spring at Dunnings Creek Friends Meeting House in Fishertown, honoring her contributions and the impact she had on so many lives.
