Louisville, Kentucky witnessed an exciting comeback as the men's basketball program took to the court after a 10-day break. On Tuesday night at the KFC Yum! Center, they faced Bellarmine and emerged victorious with a resounding 100 - 68 score. This victory not only improved their all-time record against the Knights to 14 - 1 but also marked a significant step in the right direction after their previous 22 - point loss to No. 12 Tennessee.

Offensive Prowess and Defensive Resilience

The Cardinals showed remarkable improvement in their shooting compared to their previous game against Tennessee. They drained 54.7 percent of their attempts and went 12 - of - 35 from beyond the arc. Additionally, they notched 44 points in the paint and out - rebounded Bellarmine 37 - 23. Defensively, while they were a bit shaky at times, they still held the Knights to 45.3 percent from the field and 9 - of - 25 on three - point attempts. They also forced 16 turnovers, which translated to 18 points off them, and had seven steals.

Player Performances

Terrence Edwards Jr. led the team with 26 points, his highest since scoring 30 points on Feb. 28, 2024 against Georgia State while at James Madison. Kasean Pryor also had a great game, scoring 21 points, which was his most since scoring 29 against Tulsa on Mar. 9, 2024 while at South Florida. Chucky Hepburn contributed 16 points along with five assists. J’Vonne Hadley and James Scott each had 10 points, with Scott pulling down a team - high eight rebounds. Bellarmine's Ben Johnson was the top scorer with 29 points.

Early Struggles and Late Dominance

In the early stages of the game, Louisville made shots but their overall offensive execution, especially ball movement, was not at its best. Bellarmine took advantage of some suspect interior defense and made eight of their first 13 shots. However, after that, the Cardinals turned up their defensive effort. They held the Knights to 3 - of - 11 from the field in the half's final ten minutes and forced 10 turnovers for the half. This, coupled with an improved offensive showing that ended with an 18 - of - 30 shooting percentage in the first half, allowed them to close the period on a 26 - 8 run and take a 48 - 27 lead into the half. This was their highest scoring first half since December 2019.In the second half, Louisville got out to a 26 - point lead but Bellarmine fought back. They strung together a 14 - 6 run to cut the lead to as little as 15 with just under 12 minutes to go. But from that point on, Louisville's shooting improved, hitting 10 of their final 18 shots after a slow start. Meanwhile, Bellarmine's shooting cooled down, hitting just five of their final 15 shots. The Cardinals led by as much as 34 in the end.Next, Louisville will conclude their four - game home stand with a matchup against Winthrop on Friday, Nov. 22 at 7:00 p.m. EST.You can follow Louisville Cardinals On SI for future coverage by liking us on Facebook, Twitter/X and Instagram:Facebook – @LouisvilleOnSITwitter/X – @LouisvilleOnSIInstagram – @louisvilleonsiYou can also follow Deputy Editor Matthew McGavic at @Matt_McGavic on Twitter/X
