Middle Tennessee's men's tennis program is seeking local kids in 5th through 8th grade to join their 2025 Ball Kid Program. This offers a unique opportunity for young participants to be an integral part of the team during the upcoming spring season. Assistant Coach Josh McDermott is in charge of this year's program.

Benefits of the Ball Kid Program

Training with the Coaching Staff and Players

Kids in the program will have the chance to participate in training sessions held at the Adams Tennis Complex. These sessions provide valuable interaction with the coaching staff and players, allowing them to learn and grow. (January, TBD)

It's an excellent opportunity for young tennis enthusiasts to gain insights from experienced coaches and players. They can observe their techniques and strategies up close, which can enhance their own game.

Moreover, these training sessions build a sense of community and teamwork among the participants. They get to know each other and work together towards a common goal.

Specialized Ball Kid T-Shirt

Every program participant will receive a specialized Middle Tennessee State Ball Kid t-shirt. This is a tangible memento of their participation in the program and a source of pride.

The t-shirt serves as a symbol of their involvement and allows them to stand out during matches. It also creates a sense of unity among the ball kids.

Wearing the t-shirt gives the ball kids a sense of identity and belonging to the tennis team. It's a small but significant way for them to be part of the Middle Tennessee men's tennis program.

Free Admission for Participants and Families

Participants and their families will enjoy free admission for the duration of the season. This is a great perk that allows families to support their child's participation and enjoy the matches together.

It eliminates the financial burden of attending tennis matches and makes it accessible for families to be involved. They can cheer on their child and experience the excitement of the sport.

Free admission also helps to build a sense of community around the tennis program. Families can come together and support the team, creating a positive atmosphere.

Interaction with the Coaching Staff and Players

Ball kids have the opportunity to interact with the coaching staff and players on a regular basis. This allows them to build relationships and learn from the experts.

They can ask questions, seek advice, and gain a deeper understanding of the sport. The coaching staff and players are always willing to share their knowledge and experience with the ball kids.

These interactions can have a lasting impact on the ball kids. They may inspire them to pursue tennis further or develop a lifelong love for the sport.

Assisting in Tennis Operations

Being a ball kid is not just about running around during matches. It also involves assisting in tennis operations that are vital for the smooth flow of the matches.

Ball kids learn about the behind-the-scenes aspects of tennis and how everything comes together to create a great match. They develop organizational and teamwork skills.

This hands-on experience gives the ball kids a sense of responsibility and helps them understand the importance of their role in the tennis program. It prepares them for future endeavors.

The 2025 spring schedule for Middle Tennessee men's tennis features 15 home matches, opening with the seventh-ranked Tennessee Volunteers on Jan. 16 at the Adams Tennis Complex. The Blue Raiders also welcome Utah, New Mexico and South Alabama to Murfreesboro for the Battle in the ‘Boro on Feb. 21-23 at the Outdoor Tennis Facility.
