The Minnewaska Area girls tennis team recently held its season-ending banquet, marking the end of a remarkable season. With a record of 19-4 overall and 8-0 in the WCC, the Lakers achieved great success. Two of the season's highlights were placing second in the Section 6A Team Tournament and Alia Randt and Megan Thorfinnson winning the section doubles' title, which earned them a berth at state. There, they went 2-2 and placed fourth overall.
All-Conference Honors
This year, several Lakers earned All-Conference recognition. Alia Randt, Olivia Danielson, Avarie Uhde, Rachel Rankin, Megan Thorfinnson, and Katy Vold were named to the All-Conference team. Addy Heid was also honored with an honorable mention.During the season-ending banquet, the Senior Leadership Awards went to Megan Thorfinnson, Avarie Uhde, McKenna Uhde, Katy Vold, and Katie Sorenson. McKenna Uhde was named the Most Improved Player, while Olivia Danielson won the Sportsmanship Award and also set a record with 31 wins in a season. Avarie Uhde won the Team Spirit Award, and Alia Randt and Rachel Rankin were both named the winners of the “Hustle, Hit, Never Quit” Award.The Minnewaska Area girls tennis team also achieved a Gold Team Academic Award with a team GPA of 3.99 (requiring a GPA of 3.75 or higher). Additionally, Megan Thorfinnson, Avarie Uhde, McKenna Uhde, Katy Vold, and Katie Sorenson earned All-State Academic Awards from the MSHSL (seniors with a GPA of at least 3.8).In the WCC, several players earned Academic Awards with a GPA of 3.75 or higher. These included Megan Thorfinnson, Alia Randt, Olivia Danielson, Avarie Uhde, Katy Vold, Katie Sorenson, McKenna Uhde, Rachel Rankin, Kaylen Blair, Norah VanZee, Adysen Hess, Kennedy Blair, and Maggie Hjelm.JV Awards
