This event has left the community in shock and raised many questions.

Police Response: A Scene of Desolation

Minneapolis police were quickly dispatched to the scene on 23rd Avenue North between 4th Street North and 6th Street North. Upon arrival, they found a black Nissan Maxima in the middle of the street with shattered windows and front-end damage. A bullet hole was also noticed near the trunk. Inside the vehicle, they discovered a man with a gunshot wound to the head in the driver's seat. His fiancé was holding his head, and she identified the shooting suspect as her cousin, Kinglewes Edward McCaleb, a 20-year-old from Big Lake, Minnesota. McCaleb was later charged with second-degree murder in connection with this fatal shooting. The man was immediately taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. This tragic event has had a profound impact on the lives of those involved and the community as a whole.

Child Witnesses: A Tale of Survival

During the shooting, two of the fiancé's children were in the car. Thankfully, they were not injured and managed to run away after the incident. Police found them at a nearby home, where a bystander took them in to ensure their safety. The 1-year-old girl had blood splatter on her face and body, which is a heartbreaking sight. These children will likely carry the memories of this traumatic event with them for the rest of their lives.

Investigation: Unraveling the Mystery

Officers later discovered a Mazda SUV further east of the crime scene on 23rd Avenue. There were four spent shell casings behind the Mazda, indicating that there had been some form of exchange of gunfire. Police spoke to the woman who witnessed the shooting and learned that McCaleb was upset with her and the victim due to a dispute over the Mazda. She had given the Mazda to McCaleb after he agreed to take over the payments, but he failed to do so.The woman reported seeing McCaleb standing near the Mazda when he pulled the gun from his waist and opened fire. She thought she heard three shots. After the shots were fired, the Nissan containing the victim and the witnesses crashed, and McCaleb reportedly fired another round at the car as it was crashing. The woman added that she thought the victim returned fire but did not hit anything.Investigators also viewed surveillance footage that showed the Nissan being driven west on 23rd Avenue North, followed by the sound of a car crash and a woman screaming. This footage has provided valuable evidence in the ongoing investigation. The North Minneapolis shooting has left a deep scar on the community, and the search for answers continues.
