Since 2020, Chevron has partnered with Catholic Charities to offer a lifeline to families in need. Recipient Heather Hess's story is a prime example. Her mother is disabled and unable to obtain a turkey on her own. The excitement on her mother's face when receiving a turkey is truly heartwarming. Hess herself has been a recipient of the monthly food drives but decided to give back this year, spreading holiday cheer.
Seeing the emotions on the faces of those receiving help and the stress being lifted for a while is a powerful sight. It shows the impact that these efforts can have on people's lives. Catholic Charities Director Sister Marie Josepha Kluczny is grateful for all the volunteers who have shown up to help. She emphasizes that no one agency can solve food insecurity on its own. It takes the community and the industries that employ them working together to make a real difference.
Kluczny explains that it's like a reciprocal gesture that the Lord calls us to. We are not always the ones giving or receiving, but we are meant to be a gift to one another. This spirit of community support is what makes the work of Catholic Charities possible. By coming together, we can put an end to food insecurity and make the holidays a little brighter for those who need it most.
