In an exciting development for the entertainment industry, Two One Five Entertainment, co-founded by Oscar-winning director Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson and MC frontman Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter, has strengthened its team with the addition of Josh Williams as Director of Scripted Development. This move comes on the heels of a successful debut at Sundance for Thompson’s documentary "Sly Lives!" and a celebratory weekend marking SNL's 50th anniversary, where The Roots took center stage. Williams, who previously worked with AGBO, will focus on developing original scripted projects from the company’s Los Angeles office, reporting to Zarah Zohlman. This expansion underscores Two One Five’s commitment to diversifying its creative portfolio and enhancing its storytelling capabilities.

The decision to bring Williams aboard was warmly welcomed by the co-founders, who expressed their enthusiasm for the new talent joining their dynamic and growing team. They highlighted his expertise and how it will help elevate the company’s creative vision. With a robust background in entertainment, Williams is poised to contribute significantly to Two One Five’s mission of fostering innovative narratives and amplifying diverse voices. His role will involve overseeing all aspects of original scripted content development, including series and features.

Williams shared his excitement about joining Two One Five, emphasizing his passion for storytelling and innovation. He aims to collaborate closely with the team to drive initiatives that resonate globally. This aligns perfectly with the company’s track record of producing award-winning documentaries and collaborations with major platforms like Hulu, Disney+, AMC, BET, Amazon, Twitch, YouTube, and Netflix. Notably, Two One Five recently launched "Sly Lives!" (also known as "The Burden of Black Genius") on these streaming services, following its premiere at Park City. Additionally, the company has several high-profile projects in the pipeline, including works on Stevie Wonder in partnership with Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground, books, podcasts, and a film on Earth, Wind & Fire.

Founded in 2019, Two One Five Entertainment has rapidly expanded its influence in the industry. The company inked a first-look deal with Universal Television and sold a stake to Peter Chernin’s content studio, The North Road Company, in 2023. Alongside their production ventures, The Roots continue to serve as the house band for "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," release albums, and tour. This strategic growth highlights the company’s dedication to both artistic excellence and business acumen, positioning them as a formidable force in entertainment.

The inclusion of Josh Williams as Director of Scripted Development marks a significant milestone for Two One Five Entertainment. It not only strengthens their development capabilities but also signals their intent to push boundaries in storytelling. With a talented team and ambitious projects on the horizon, Two One Five is set to continue making waves in the entertainment landscape, driven by a vision of innovation and diversity.
