The UMBC Women's Basketball team is all set to make history as they prepare to host American on Wednesday night at The Peake. Last Game Highlights

In the last game, Jordon Lewis showed exceptional skills by scoring a team-high 19 points. This led a school record six Retrievers to reach double-figures as the team defeated visiting Morgan State with a score of 81-72 on Sunday afternoon at The Peake. Talia Davis scored 14 points, Carmen Yánez also had 14 points, Jaliena Sanchez scored 12, Jaden Walker scored 12, and Tiara Bellamy scored 10. Lewis was on fire from the field, shooting 6-of-7 and an impressive 7-of-9 from the free throw line, hitting her final seven attempts. The Retrievers also showed great accuracy at the free throw line, hitting 32-of-37 (86.5%), with Davis leading the way with 10-of-11 shooting. The 81 points scored marks the most by UMBC against a Division 1 opponent in their last 20 D1 contests. The last time they eclipsed 80 points was in a 85-53 win over Saint Francis on 12/29/23.

Scouting American

The Eagles faced a tough loss against the visiting Longwood Lancers, falling 59-41 in Bender Arena. Neither team managed to find their offensive rhythm, but Longwood's full court press and an abundance of shots gave them the upper hand. Freshman forward Cecilia Kay had an outstanding performance, finishing a second consecutive game with double-digit rebounds (10) and scoring eight points. She also contributed four blocks and a steal. Classmates Molly Driscoll and Elizabeth Archer each scored eight points along with Kay. Archer pulled down six rebounds, while Driscoll had three rebounds, along with two assists and a steal. Grace Koepke, a sophomore guard, finished with six points and six rebounds.The UMBC Women's Basketball team is truly a force to be reckoned with, and their upcoming game against American is sure to be a thrilling encounter.
