Thirteen-year-old Cooper Grant from Chicago arrived with a radiant smile, accompanied by his parents, little brother Hunter, and big brother Gabe. He has congenital heart disease and some right-side paralysis due to surgeries. Yet, his love for the Eagles remains unwavering. "I liked them in 2018 and I just stick with them," he said. This encounter with the team was a dream come true for him.
His dad, Brian Grant, shared his emotions. "It's pretty cool. I actually get emotional in here thinking about it." The family's journey is filled with hardships, and this moment with the Eagles provided a much-needed ray of light.
The kids and their siblings were given $250 gift cards to shop for Eagles gear at Mitchell & Ness in Center City. Cooper Grant tried on different jackets, and the experience was truly awesome. "You did try the jacket on?" asked Eagles cornerback Cooper DeJean. "Yeah. It was a different one," Cooper replied.
For these kids, wearing Eagles gear became more than just a fashion statement. It was a symbol of their connection to the team and a source of pride. Their shopping helper, DeJean, added to the excitement by signing autographs and taking pictures with them.
On Friday, the families will tour the Linc, getting an up-close look at the stadium where their beloved Eagles play. They will also attend an Eagles' practice and watch them take on the Panthers at the game on Sunday. This series of events is not just about having fun; it's about helping these kids look forward during their health journey.
"This is something that has helped them to look forward to something along the way of their health journey," said Geremi James with Make-A-Wish Philadelphia. The Eagles' gesture has the power to make a significant difference in the lives of these children.
