Alpine F1 Team Secures Franco Colapinto Until 2027

The Alpine Formula 1 team has confirmed that Franco Colapinto will remain with them for an extended period, solidifying his partnership with Pierre Gasly. This agreement ensures Colapinto's presence on the grid through the 2027 racing season, highlighting Alpine's long-term vision for its driver lineup.

Colapinto, a 23-year-old Argentine talent, initially served as a reserve driver for Alpine in 2025. His unexpected promotion saw him replace Jack Doohan at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix on May 18 in Italy. Throughout the season, he participated in 18 races, achieving his best result with an 11th-place finish at the Dutch Grand Prix. For the current 2026 season, Colapinto has made 12 starts, accumulating 19 points and holding 12th position in the drivers' standings, while Gasly is positioned 10th with 44 points. Together, the Alpine duo has placed sixth in the team standings, demonstrating their collective strength.

Flavio Briatore, Alpine's executive adviser, expressed strong belief in both drivers' capabilities. He praised Colapinto's significant development and maturity, noting his impressive performances in Miami and Montreal as clear evidence of his rightful place in Formula 1 and with the Alpine team. Briatore conveyed high expectations for both Colapinto and Gasly to maintain their excellent on-track efforts, emphasizing the team's relentless pursuit of competitive victories at the pinnacle of motorsport. Colapinto himself shared his satisfaction with the renewal, highlighting the importance of consistency and his eagerness to contribute to the ongoing development of Alpine's racing machinery, with the primary objective being the creation of a consistently fast car.

This renewed commitment by Alpine to its driver lineup underscores the importance of stability and nurturing talent within the highly competitive world of Formula 1. It reflects a positive outlook on the team's future, reinforcing the idea that dedication, continuous improvement, and strategic long-term planning are fundamental pillars for achieving success. Such decisions inspire confidence and illustrate the dynamic pursuit of excellence that defines top-tier motorsport.
