Anvay Dravid Selected for India U-19 Squad Tour of Sri Lanka

Anvay Dravid, the younger son of cricketing legend Rahul Dravid, has been included in the India Under-19 team for their upcoming series in Sri Lanka. This development highlights the continued emergence of young talent within India's junior cricketing ranks and underscores the legacy of the Dravid family in the sport. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squads for the tour, which is set to commence on July 4, featuring both one-day and multi-day contests.

Anvay's inclusion as a wicketkeeper in the one-day squad alongside Rajat Baghel signifies his growing prominence. For the longer format, the selectors have opted for Manav Krishna and Aryan Sandesh Sakpal as wicketkeeping options. Anvay, who hails from Karnataka, has consistently demonstrated his potential in age-group competitions. His notable performance in last year's Vinoo Mankad Trophy saw him guide his state team to the quarterfinals, accumulating an impressive 220 runs in six appearances, including a crucial unbeaten 82 and another half-century.

The leadership for both the one-day and multi-day teams will be assumed by Yashbardhan Singh Chauhan, with Lakshya Raichandani serving as his deputy across both formats. This tour offers a valuable platform for these budding cricketers to hone their skills and gain international exposure at the junior level.

The Dravid family's influence in junior cricket continues to expand. Earlier in 2024, Anvay's elder brother, Samit Dravid, was also selected for India's Under-19 squad to participate in a bilateral series against Australia, held in Puducherry and Chennai. These selections reflect the dedication and talent fostered within the family, contributing to the rich cricketing heritage of India.

The Sri Lanka tour is anticipated to be a pivotal moment for these young athletes, including Anvay, as they aim to make a mark on the international stage and further their aspirations in professional cricket. It provides a crucial stepping stone for their development and a chance to showcase their abilities against competitive opposition.
