Integrity on the Field: MSU Grapples with Off-Field Incidents
Initial Legal Proceedings and Player Identifications
On Friday, September 11, 2026, authorities in Wichita Falls took two Midwestern State football players into custody on separate legal matters. Junior safety Alex Jacoby was apprehended for allegedly attempting to evade law enforcement while operating a vehicle. Following his booking, Jacoby was released on the same day after securing a $25,000 surety bond, as documented by police records. Concurrently, junior linebacker Kalauti "Junior" Heimuli was arrested for public intoxication. Heimuli also processed through the booking system and was released on September 11 under a personal recognizance bond.
University's Official Statement and Disciplinary Measures
Kyle Williams, the Athletic Director for Midwestern State, addressed the situation on Wednesday, September 16, acknowledging full awareness of the events. Williams confirmed that the university would handle the matter internally, adhering to established policies and procedures. He assured that disciplinary actions would be implemented against the players involved. The arrests took place during the team's scheduled bye week, a period of rest for the Mustangs. Despite the legal issues, both Jacoby and Heimuli were still listed on the official Midwestern State football roster as of Wednesday.
Player Backgrounds and On-Field Performance
Alex Jacoby, a junior safety, hails from San Jose, California, and joined Midwestern State after transferring from De Anza College.
