This week's selection showcases nine talented individuals from seven different schools, each having demonstrated exceptional skill and determination in their respective fields.
Among the exceptional nominees is Collin Tefft from Edwardsburg boys' soccer, who scored three goals, contributing significantly to his team's two victories, bringing their record to 5-1-0. Fabricio Hernandez, a junior from Goshen boys' soccer, also distinguished himself by scoring a goal during regular play and another in a penalty shootout, leading his top-ranked team to an undefeated start in the Northern Lakes Conference. In girls' soccer, Maya Nelson of Northridge secured her team's 1-0 win against Goshen with the sole goal of the match during their conference opener.
On the volleyball court, Alli Steele from Northridge delivered an impressive performance with 40 kills and 32 digs, helping her team achieve a perfect 4-0 record and win their home invitational championship. Carson Petty, a senior setter for Penn volleyball, orchestrated her team's success with 76 assists, 26 digs, and eight kills, leading them to a third-place finish in the Powerball Tournament and an 11-2 overall record. In girls' golf, Kathy Lee from Penn led her team with a score of 87, securing a second-place finish for the Kingsmen in the 18-team Rochester Invitational.
For cross country, Josiah Maxwell from NorthWood claimed the individual championship at the NorthWood Invitational with a time of 16:47, also leading his team to overall victory. Additionally, Max Howk and Gabe Fulcher from South Bend Adams boys' cross country collectively earned the individual overall championship at the Tom Miller Hokum Karem event. Emily Keegan, a senior from South Bend Saint Joseph girls' soccer, played a crucial role in her team's 1-0 victory over Penn in their Northern Indiana Conference opener, maintaining their undefeated status.
