In the initial contest, Augustana emerged victorious with a 2-0 shutout against Jamestown, largely attributed to the outstanding pitching by Teya Speltz. She delivered one of her best performances of the season, completing all seven innings with just two hits allowed. Speltz skillfully navigated through four walks and struck out six batters, consistently escaping difficult situations and keeping Jamestown's hitters off-balance throughout the game.
Augustana broke the scoreless tie in the third inning when Speltz herself initiated the offense with a lead-off single. A sacrifice bunt by Ella Cooper advanced her, and Desi Cuevas then drove Speltz home with an RBI single to left field.
