New York Yankees' catcher Austin Wells spoke to reporters on Sunday, confirming his placement on the 10-day injured list due to cervical headaches. The team made the announcement on Saturday, prompting immediate changes to the roster. Wells expressed optimism about his recovery, stating, "I feel better already today, so I think it just needs a couple of days, let the brain catch up a little bit and get back to work." He described the issue as a "cumulative buildup over the last couple of weeks, a month," emphasizing the need for rest to fully recover.
Boone's Concussion Clarification and Wells' Ongoing Symptoms
Manager Aaron Boone promptly dismissed any concerns of a concussion following Wells' move to the injured list. While the exact onset of his symptoms remains unclear, Wells noted a persistent "pressure in the top of my head" and "some headaches." He added, "I've been feeling it for a bit. I felt like it got to the point where I should say something," indicating a proactive approach to his health.
