Ravens' Roster Woes: Key Players Sidelined for Saints Showdown
Leading Receiver Zay Flowers' Status in Doubt
Star wide receiver Zay Flowers is facing uncertainty for Sunday's game, listed as doubtful due to a hamstring injury. Despite a limited practice session on Friday after missing earlier practices, sources suggest he is not expected to participate. Flowers' potential absence is a major blow, following his impressive performance in the season opener where he recorded five catches for 150 yards and a touchdown before his injury against Indianapolis.
Defensive Core Depleted Against New Orleans
The Ravens' defense will be severely tested, as three key players have been officially ruled out for the Saints game. Defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike, inside linebacker Teddye Buchanan, and cornerback T.J. Tampa will all be sidelined. Madubuike and Buchanan were unable to get clearance despite limited participation in practices throughout the week. Tampa's absence stems from a knee injury sustained in the previous game against the Colts, leaving critical gaps in Baltimore's defensive lineup.
Impact on the Receiving Corps
Should Zay Flowers be inactive, the Ravens' receiving options will be significantly reshaped. Rashod Bateman, Chris Moore, Devontez Walker, and LaJohntay Wester are expected to step up and form the available receiving group. This situation could also open the door for Elijah Sarratt to make his regular season debut in the NFL. Devontez Walker, who missed the season opener due to a groin injury, has fully recovered and practiced without limitations throughout the week, offering some relief to the team's receiving depth.
Other Injury Updates: Questionable and Cleared Players
In addition to the confirmed absences, outside linebacker Trey Hendrickson, left guard John Simpson, and left tackle Ronnie Stanley are all listed as questionable. Hendrickson, who missed two practices with a finger injury, returned to limited participation on Friday, as did Simpson and Stanley. On a positive note, Calais Campbell, Jaylinn Hawkins, and Keondre Jackson practiced fully on Friday and have received no game designations, indicating their availability for the matchup against the Saints.
