Blue Jackets' Severson Sidelined for Season Following Shoulder Surgery

Columbus Blue Jackets' esteemed defenseman, Damon Severson, is unfortunately out for the remainder of the season, having undergone shoulder surgery. This significant setback for the team was confirmed on Friday, following an injury sustained earlier in the week.

The 31-year-old athlete had his surgical procedure on Thursday. His injury occurred during the third period of a tough 2-1 loss against the Montreal Canadiens on March 26, when he was hit by Zachary Bolduc. Prior to this, Severson had been a formidable presence on the ice, contributing 32 points, including eight goals and 24 assists, and achieving a team-leading plus-18 rating in 71 games this season. His extensive career spans 855 games with both the Devils and Blue Jackets, tallying an impressive 348 points (81 goals, 267 assists) since his draft by New Jersey in 2012.

Despite this challenging period, Severson's journey in the NHL exemplifies resilience and dedication. His past achievements and consistent performance highlight the commitment required in professional sports. While his current season has been cut short, his return to the ice will undoubtedly be met with anticipation, reflecting the unwavering spirit of athletes who overcome adversity to continue pursuing their passion and contributing to their teams' success.
