PIAA Class 6A Opening Round: Dominance on the Diamond
In the first round of the Class 6A playoffs, Pennsbury showcased a commanding performance, defeating Ephrata 6-0. Star player Carlton Crane led the charge with multiple hits, including a double, supported by Brendan Zuckerman and Nolan Kolanko, who each contributed doubles and RBIs. Henry Garlits also added a hit and an RBI. Pitcher Keller Bradley was exceptional, allowing only three hits and one unearned run over six innings, striking out nine. Owen Hawkes closed out the game with three strikeouts in the seventh inning. Neshaminy secured a 4-2 victory over William Allen, propelled by strong offensive showings in the third and fourth innings. Pitcher Matt Gryn delivered a complete game, giving up only three hits and striking out two. Mike Sassano had two hits and an RBI, while Noah Wallace and Gryn also added hits. Pitcher Cooper Weiss was outstanding for La Salle, allowing only two hits to Pennridge's Ascher Hamburg and Brayden Robinson. Pennridge, the SOL Colonial champions, made their first state appearance since 2016.
Class 6A Quarterfinal Previews: Key Matchups Emerge
The quarterfinals for Class 6A will feature an exciting clash between Pennsbury and Hazleton. Pennsbury, fresh off their District One title—their first since winning the state championship in 2017—is a formidable opponent. The Falcons, also champions of the 2026 SOL Patriot, demonstrated their offensive prowess by scoring 42 runs in four district victories. Hazleton enters this matchup after a 4-1 win over Hempfield. Another compelling quarterfinal will see La Salle face Neshaminy. Neshaminy is making its third consecutive state appearance and finished second in the SOL Patriot. Last year, they reached the state semifinals. La Salle, the District 12 champion, enters this game after a decisive 10-0 victory over Central and a hard-fought 7-6 win against Conwell-Egan for the PCL title.
PIAA Class 4A First Round: Mixed Results for Local Teams
In Class 4A, Boiling Springs defeated Conwell-Egan 8-0. The Eagles struggled in their state playoff opener without their MVP, Brady Guzzie, who was sidelined due to a hamstring injury. Jake McClain recorded the only hit for CEC, which also committed five errors and utilized five pitchers. Conwell-Egan had earned the top district seed with a strong PCL regular season record. Archbishop Wood secured a narrow 2-1 victory over undefeated Northern Lebanon. Pitcher Brady Sell delivered a stellar performance, allowing only two hits and striking out 11. Caden Vacca drove in Wood's initial run and scored the winning run in the sixth inning. AJ Hopkins and Averell Walls also contributed with two hits each. The Class 4A quarterfinals will feature Holy Ghost Prep against Mid Valley. The Firebirds, who secured their second state trip in three years, are looking to replicate their 2024 state championship success. Mid-Valley advanced with a 7-6 victory over East Pennsboro. Archbishop Wood will challenge Bellefonte. The Vikings reached the PCL semifinals and made it to the state semifinals in 2023. Bellefonte advanced after an 11-1 victory over Elizabeth Forward.
PIAA Class 2A First Round: Faith Christian's Powerful Start
Faith Christian, the two-time defending state champions, displayed their dominance with a resounding 15-0 victory over Masterman in three innings. Home runs from Brandon Labs and Hunter Herr, each contributing three RBIs, powered the offense. Logan Labs added a bases-clearing triple, a double, and four RBIs. Jagger Verbit scored three runs and hit a triple, while Maddox Bauz chipped in with two RBIs. Justin Murray and Ethan Snyder combined for a three-inning no-hitter.
Class 2A Quarterfinal: Faith Christian Aims for Three-Peat
Faith Christian will face Halifax in the Class 2A quarterfinals. The Lions, with an impressive 11-1 BAL regular season record, are aiming for their third consecutive state title. Halifax secured their spot with a 7-6 win over South Williamsport.
PIAA Class A First Round: Dock Mennonite Advances
Dock Mennonite earned a 7-4 victory over York Christian, with Ethan Kratz leading the offense with three hits, including a triple. Mason Bicht contributed a double and two RBIs. The Pioneers secured their win with three runs in the seventh inning. Pitcher Riley Kling went the distance, allowing nine hits while striking out six.
Class A Quarterfinal: Dock Mennonite's Next Challenge
Dock Mennonite will compete against Nativity BVM in the Class A quarterfinals. The Pioneers, who repeated as district champions, finished with a 10-2 record in the BAL. Nativity BVM advanced with a 9-0 victory over Benton.
