The Call of Duty competitive circuit is making its grand return to the Esports World Cup 2026, bringing with it an exciting new format for its substantial $1.8 million tournament, slated to run from August 4th to 8th.

The Battle for Supremacy in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7

The competition for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will commence with a robust group stage, where two divisions of eight teams each will vie for advancement. As the tournament progresses, playoff matches will intensify with best-of-seven series, culminating in a climactic Grand Final contested over a best-of-nine format.

Legacy Teams and New Contenders in the Arena

Past champions, including FaZe (2024) and OpTic Gaming (2025), who have previously triumphed at the Esports World Cup's Call of Duty events, will be returning. They will be joined by an additional ten formidable teams from the 2026 Call of Duty season.

The lineup of participating teams includes: Atlanta FaZe (FaZe Clan), Miami Heretics (Team Heretics), LA Thieves (100 Thieves), G2 Minnesota (G2 Esports), Cloud9 New York (Cloud9), Paris Gentle Mates (Gentle Mates), Riyadh Falcons (Team Falcons), Toronto KOI (Movistar KOI), Boston Breach, Carolina Royal Ravens, and Vancouver Surge.

Qualifying Paths for Aspiring Teams

The remaining four coveted spots in the tournament will be secured by the top three finishers from the 2026 CDL Challengers Finals, held from July 17th to 19th, alongside the victorious team from the EWC Last Chance Qualifier, scheduled for July 31st to August 1st.

Currently, Paris Gentle Mates are leading the standings, a position they earned by winning both the Stage 1 Major qualifier and the Stage 1 Major. Their impressive run included a hard-fought victory against OpTic Texas in the Major upper bracket final, followed by a win over FaZe in the lower final, and finally, a 4-3 triumph in a rematch against OpTic in the Grand Final.
