Cincinnati Enquirer's Spirit Award Winners Announced for September 11

The Cincinnati Enquirer proudly announced the latest winners of its distinguished Spirit Award, a weekly recognition celebrating outstanding achievements in cheerleading and dance. This initiative highlights individuals and groups who embody virtues such as love, joy, patience, and kindness, consistently uplifting their peers, school communities, and beyond. This week's accolades went to Scarlett Highlands-Amster for her individual contributions and to The Majestic Middie Majorettes for their exceptional team spirit.

Scarlett Highlands-Amster, a senior and captain of the varsity cheerleading squad at Cincinnati Country Day, was lauded for her exemplary leadership and selfless commitment. Her coach, Alicia Wall, emphasized Scarlett's dedication to fostering a supportive environment, describing her as someone who genuinely strives to improve those around her. Beyond her role as cheer captain, Scarlett is actively involved in varsity golf, Students Helping Students, and the school's Flight Crew, demonstrating a consistent effort to unite students and enhance school spirit. This year, she further expanded her impact by establishing a new Spirit Club, providing additional avenues for student engagement and school support. Her actions consistently reflect a profound care for others and a commitment to leaving every situation better than she found it.

The Majestic Middie Majorettes, in their third year as a dance team, earned the team Spirit Award for their remarkable progress and positive influence. Coach Britnee Carter highlighted the team's resilience in overcoming challenges, noting that their current year stands out as particularly successful. The 15 dancers, spanning grades ninth through twelfth, have meticulously crafted captivating performances and exhibit exceptional virtues in their interactions. Their commitment extends to numerous community service projects, from organizing youth dance camps to general volunteering, consistently surpassing expectations in their preparation for football game performances. Their coach expressed immense pride in their collective achievements and dedication.
