Uttar Pradesh fast bowler Yash Dayal has officially sought a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) to facilitate a move to Chhattisgarh for the impending domestic cricket season. This decision follows a period of intense speculation and personal hurdles for the bowler, who has been a significant figure in Uttar Pradesh cricket for several years. His departure marks a pivotal moment in his career as he seeks new opportunities and a fresh start.
Dayal, who showcased his skills recently in the Ghaziabad Premier League, capturing nine wickets in just four matches, had initially been rumored to participate in the UPT20 League. However, he ultimately chose a different path, opting for a change of state. His history with Uttar Pradesh cricket is extensive, having represented the state from 2018 to 2025. During this tenure, he played 27 first-class matches, securing 84 wickets, alongside 36 wickets in 23 List A encounters, and an impressive 66 wickets from 71 T20 matches.
Confirming his decision, Dayal shared that he had submitted his NOC application to the UPCA and plans to join the Chhattisgarh team's fitness camp next month, signaling his commitment to his new team. The discussions with the Chhattisgarh Cricket Association had reportedly been in progress for some time, even before the current season. Dayal initially took time to contemplate the move, consulting with his mentors and family before reaching a definitive decision to proceed with the transfer.
Dayal conveyed the emotional difficulty of leaving Uttar Pradesh, acknowledging the profound impact the UPCA had on his professional journey. He spoke of the immense pride he felt playing for the UP team and representing them in the Ranji Trophy, highlighting the association's crucial role in his recognition, his participation in the IPL, and even his selection for the Indian national team. Regarding his affiliation with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the pacer clarified that he had not been dropped from the franchise. He explained that he remained a part of the squad but was not physically traveling with the team during the season. Meanwhile, a senior UPCA official confirmed that Dayal's request for an NOC is currently under review.
