Pitcher Logan Richards secured the victory by fielding a ground ball for the final out. Flower Mound notably outhit Allen seven to three, with catcher Grant Plasek contributing two hits and an RBI. The teams are set to clash again on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Allen's home field.
Sachse delivered a commanding performance against Rockwall-Heath, securing a 14-4 victory in a highly anticipated contest between two ranked teams. The game remained scoreless until the top of the sixth when Carlos Salazar singled, scoring Hillcrest's first run. Jean Pierre Paternina followed with a triple, adding another run, and then scored himself due to a fielding error. Their series continues Thursday at 7 p.m. at Lake Highlands.
Southlake Carroll emerged victorious over Boswell with a 2-0 score in an extra-innings thriller. The decisive runs came in the top of the eighth when Shawn Arterburn hit an RBI double, bringing home Zach Stroud and Gavin Strange. Sophomore pitcher AJ Bonnette was sensational, throwing all eight innings, recording 15 strikeouts, and allowing only two hits.
McKinney Boyd secured an upset with a 5-4 walk-off win against Denton Guyer. In the bottom of the seventh, Graham Daniels drew a bases-loaded walk, scoring Luke Laughon for the winning run. Guyer had tied the game in the previous inning with a one-run single from Jacob Pruett. Game 2 is set for Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Little Elm.
Jesuit dominated Arlington Lamar with a 13-4 victory. Taylor Haddock and Brooks Kowal combined for four hits and six RBIs. Jesuit quickly established a 5-0 lead, and although Lamar attempted a rally, Jesuit extended their advantage with Preston Farragut stealing home and Haddock hitting a three-run double. Game 2 moves to Jesuit on Thursday at 7 p.m.
