Daytona State Women's Golf Team Secures 12th National Title

The Daytona State Falcons have once again demonstrated their exceptional prowess in women's golf, securing their 12th National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) championship. This remarkable victory, achieved on May 14, marks their second national title in just three years, solidifying their reputation as a collegiate golf powerhouse. The intense four-day competition at Oakwood Country Club in Coal Valley, Illinois, culminated in a thrilling finish, with the Falcons narrowly edging out their rivals by a single stroke.

Entering the final day trailing Odessa by two shots, the Falcons delivered their most impressive performance of the week. Their collective score of 13-over-par for the day propelled them to an overall tournament score of +69, snatching the coveted crown from Odessa, who finished just one stroke behind at +70. This dominant display highlighted their resilience and strategic play under pressure. Individually, freshman Alana Kutt was a standout, finishing second overall with a score of 10-over-par, closely followed by fellow freshman Jamie Lowry in third at 12-over. Daytona State was the only team to boast two golfers within the top six, and an additional three players in the top 21, further showcasing the depth of their talent.

Under the unwavering leadership of head coach Laura Brown, the Daytona State women's golf program has cultivated a legacy of excellence. Brown, the only coach in the program's history, has guided her teams to an astonishing 12 national championships over her 28-season tenure, averaging a national title nearly every other year.
