Denver Summit Sets Record-Breaking Attendance in Inaugural Season Home Opener

The Denver Summit, a newly formed team in its first season, has achieved an extraordinary milestone, drawing a record-breaking crowd that signifies a pivotal moment for women's professional sports. This inaugural event has not only set a new benchmark for attendance but also showcased the immense potential and growing fan base for women's athletic leagues.

Unprecedented Fan Turnout Ignites Women's Professional Sports Scene

A Historic Debut: Setting New Attendance Records

The Denver Summit recently made an indelible mark in its debut season, welcoming an astounding 63,004 spectators to its inaugural home game at Mile High Stadium. This exceptional turnout established a new record for the largest standalone attendance at any women's professional sports event held in the United States.

Surpassing Previous NWSL Benchmarks

This impressive attendance figure far exceeded the National Women's Soccer League's (NWSL) previous record of 40,000 fans, which was set by Bay FC last year. Before that, the Chicago Stars had also set a record in 2024 with 35,038 attendees, highlighting a consistent upward trend in fan engagement for women's soccer.

Stadium Transitions and Future Venues for the Summit

The home opener at Mile High Stadium will be the only match played there by the Summit this season. The team is scheduled to compete in two games at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, home of the Colorado Rapids, before relocating to the newly constructed Centennial Stadium later this summer. Centennial Stadium will serve as a temporary home while the franchise develops its permanent facility at Santa Fe Yards, a property they recently acquired.

Boston Legacy's Enthusiastic Fan Base and Venue Adaptations

Another expansion team, Boston Legacy, also experienced a strong showing at their home opener, attracting 30,207 fans to Gillette Stadium. Due to scheduling demands and the ongoing installation of new grass for the World Cup, the Legacy will divide their home games between Gillette Stadium and Centreville Bank Stadium in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, demonstrating adaptability in managing their inaugural season's logistics.
