Esports World Cup Dota 2 Survival Stage Sees LGD, Team Liquid, and Rune Eaters Advance

In a thrilling display of competitive gaming, LGD Gaming, Team Liquid, and Rune Eaters emerged victorious in their opening matches of the survival stage at the Esports World Cup's Dota 2 event in Paris. Their successes bring them one step closer to the highly anticipated playoffs, as they navigated through the intense single-elimination bracket.

The ESL Pro Tour's concluding championship, the Dota 2 event at the Esports World Cup, boasts a substantial prize pool of $2 million, with the ultimate victor claiming $750,000 along with 1,000 club points. The tournament unfolds across three distinct phases: an initial group stage involving 24 teams in a round-robin format, followed by a survival phase, and culminating in a final playoff stage.

During the survival stage matches, LGD Gaming demonstrated their dominance by cleanly defeating MOUZ with a 2-0 scoreline. Team Liquid showcased their resilience, overcoming Xtreme Gaming in a hard-fought 2-1 series. Similarly, Rune Eaters mounted a comeback to secure a 2-1 victory against Virtus.pro. These results led to the elimination of MOUZ, Xtreme Gaming, and Virtus.pro from the competition.

The format dictated that teams finishing first in their respective groups proceeded directly to the playoffs. Teams securing second place in their groups earned a bye into the second round of the survival stage, while those in third and fourth began their survival journey in the first round. All matches in the initial phase comprised two games, whereas the subsequent phases feature best-of-three series, leading up to a best-of-five grand final.

On Tuesday, LGD's triumph over MOUZ included a swift 35-minute win in the first map, followed by an extended 63-minute battle in the second, both played on the red side. Team Liquid's encounter with Xtreme Gaming was notably prolonged. Xtreme took the first map in 69 minutes on the green side. Liquid then demonstrated remarkable endurance, grinding out a 94-minute victory on the green side before sealing the series in 41 minutes, again on green. Rune Eaters' path to advancement saw them respond to Virtus.pro's initial 46-minute win on red with a 64-minute triumph on green, eventually securing their spot with a 39-minute win, also on the green side.

The Esports World Cup encompasses a wide array of 25 gaming titles and offers an impressive total prize pool of $75 million. Upcoming events will feature popular titles such as League of Legends, PUBG, EA Sports FC, Call of Duty: Warzone, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Rocket League, Counter-Strike 2, and Fortnite, promising a diverse and exciting spectacle for esports enthusiasts worldwide.

The survival stage eliminations on Tuesday marked a crucial point in the Dota 2 tournament, narrowing the field of contenders. LGD, Team Liquid, and Rune Eaters' victories underscore their strategic prowess and competitive drive, as they continue their quest for the coveted championship title and a significant share of the prize money.
