Leading Female Athletes Join Forces to Boost WTGL's Vision
The Women's Team Golf League (WTGL) is receiving strong financial support from a diverse group of female athletes. Trybe Ventures, a key capital partner for the league, recently announced seven new investors. These include Aryna Sabalenka, the world's top-ranked tennis player; Diana Taurasi, an icon in basketball; and Hilary Knight, a two-time Olympic gold medalist in hockey. They are joined by four additional WNBA stars: Breanna Stewart, Nneka Ogwumike, Napheesa Collier, and Gabriela Jaquez. These new investors now stand alongside three legendary figures in women's soccer—Alex Morgan, Mia Hamm, and Abby Wambach—who were already part of the investment group, co-founded by Morgan.

The Women's Team Golf League (WTGL) is slated to launch later this year. It will feature teams of LPGA players competing in a high-tech indoor golf environment at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. This venue is also home to the men's TGL, which commenced in 2024. Both the TGL and WTGL are managed by TMRW Sports, a commercial enterprise co-established by golf legends Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. Mike McCarley, CEO of TMRW Sports, stated that the caliber of athletes and business leaders assembled by Trybe Ventures underscores the growing confidence in WTGL and the broader potential of women's sports. He noted that these women have significantly influenced culture and advanced women's sports, and their participation reflects a shared belief in WTGL's capacity to create an engaging global platform for women's team golf.
Elite LPGA Stars Commit to WTGL's Inaugural Season
A roster of 14 prominent LPGA players has committed to participate in WTGL's inaugural season. This impressive group includes Charley Hull, Lydia Ko, Jeeno Thitikul, Lexi Thompson, and Michelle Wie West, signaling strong support from the professional golf community for the new league's vision and format.
Nelly Korda's Critique and WTGL's Future Outlook
Despite the star-studded commitments, the world's top-ranked female golfer, Nelly Korda, will not be competing in WTGL. Korda has voiced her disappointment regarding the establishment of a separate indoor league for women, advocating instead for their inclusion alongside male competitors. She described this segregation as a significant and unfortunate oversight. While an official launch date for WTGL has yet to be announced, it is anticipated to commence in the fall. TMRW Sports has indicated that further details concerning team rosters, ownership groups, and media partnerships will be disclosed in the coming months, building anticipation for the league's debut.
