Gary Pinkel, the respected former head football coach of the Missouri Tigers, was recently charged with a class B misdemeanor in Camden County. This legal action stems from an incident that occurred on July 7, 2025, when Pinkel's vehicle experienced a blown tire in Lake Ozark. According to court filings, Pinkel sought assistance from a state trooper at approximately 11:30 p.m. in the parking lot of a Big O Tires store.

Upon encountering Pinkel, the state trooper observed significant damage to the SUV's rear right tire, indicating it had been driven on the rim for a considerable distance. The officer also detected a strong odor of alcohol emanating from Pinkel, whose speech was slurred and whose posture was unsteady. Pinkel initially claimed to have consumed only "a very small drink" and to have ceased drinking three hours prior to the tire incident. He later revised his statement, admitting to having "like two drinks" and that his last consumption was two hours before.

Pinkel demonstrated an inability to successfully complete these tests, struggling to recite the alphabet from the letter E to R and failing to count backward from 78 to 62. A preliminary breath test subsequently revealed Pinkel's blood alcohol concentration to be 0.128%, which significantly exceeds Missouri's legal limit of 0.08%.
