Clarence Massamba, a guard who previously played for the Tennessee Volunteers, has officially made his transfer to UC Irvine, a move reported on April 30th. This announcement marks the conclusion of a series of roster changes for the Volunteers, as Massamba is the last of six players to depart from the program.
During his tenure with the Tennessee team, Massamba participated in 12 games, recording an average of 0.3 points, 0.3 rebounds, and 0.3 assists over approximately 3.5 minutes per game. Prior to his time with the Volunteers, he gained professional experience in the LNB Espoirs league, competing for AS Monaco Basket during the 2024-25 season. As the team looks ahead to the 2026-27 season, the Volunteers now have a roster of 12 players, including several new additions. These new talents comprise Belmont graduate transfer guard Tyler Lundblade, junior Cal guard Dai Dai Ames, junior Loyola (Chicago) center Miles Rubin, sophomore VCU guard Terrence Hill Jr., freshman Notre Dame forward Jalen Haralson, and sophomore Kennesaw State forward Braedan Lue. The only returning players are freshman forward DeWayne Brown II and freshman guard Troy Henderson.
The team is also bolstering its future prospects with a strong high school recruiting class, featuring four-star recruits Chris Washington Jr., Ralph Scott, and Manny Green, alongside three-star guard Marquis Clark. These strategic acquisitions and the development of returning talent highlight the Volunteers' commitment to building a competitive and dynamic team. The continuous evolution of sports rosters through transfers and new recruits reflects the dynamic nature of collegiate athletics, where adaptability and strategic planning are crucial for sustained success and the pursuit of excellence.
