Harry Kane is set to be celebrated for his remarkable achievement in the 2025/26 football season, receiving the prestigious European Golden Shoe award. This accolade, presented by the Association of European Sports Media (ESM), acknowledges him as the top scorer across European leagues. The event underscores his consistent excellence and position among the sport's legendary figures.
Celebration for Football's Prolific Scorer
On August 19th, a significant event will take place at the esteemed FC Bayern Museum, where Harry Kane will officially be presented with his second European Golden Shoe award. This esteemed recognition comes after a stellar 2025/26 Bundesliga season, during which Kane netted an impressive 36 goals, accumulating 72 points in the Golden Shoe rankings. The scoring system assigns different weightings to goals based on the league's strength: goals in top-five European leagues are doubled, those in leagues ranked 6th to 22nd are multiplied by 1.5, and goals in other top-flight leagues are counted at face value.
This celebratory gathering will be a joint endeavor, hosted by the Bundesliga, FC Bayern, and Kicker, a prominent German sports magazine. The ceremony precedes the German Super Cup final, which will see Rekordmeister FC Bayern face off against Borussia Dortmund. Kane's triumph marks his second time winning this award, having previously secured it in his inaugural Bundesliga season (2023/24). His consistent scoring prowess placed him ahead of other notable strikers such as Erling Haaland of Manchester City and Kylian Mbappé from Real Madrid, who finished second and third, respectively.
Adding to the Bundesliga's success, Deniz Undav from Stuttgart also made it into the top ten, securing ninth place with 19 goals (38 points). Kane now joins an exclusive club alongside FC Bayern legends Gerd Müller and Robert Lewandowski, both of whom have also won the Golden Shoe twice while playing for the club. Only football icons Lionel Messi, with six awards, and Cristiano Ronaldo, with four, have received the honor more frequently.
Marc Lenz, managing director of the Bundesliga, lauded Kane's impact, stating, "Harry Kane has been shaping the Bundesliga and international football for years with performances at an outstanding level. Winning the Golden Shoe for the second time is an extraordinary achievement and underlines his consistency in world-class football. Together with FC Bayern Munich, the kicker and European Sports Media, we are delighted to honor this special award with football fans around the world."
FC Bayern president Herbert Hainer also expressed his admiration, drawing parallels between Kane and the club's all-time greats. "At FC Bayern, Harry Kane stands alongside striker legends such as Gerd Müller and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. He always leads by example with character and a sense of togetherness. We are proud that he is part of the FC Bayern family."
The conferral of the European Golden Shoe to Harry Kane not only celebrates his individual brilliance but also highlights the enduring appeal and competitive spirit of the Bundesliga. His achievement serves as an inspiration, demonstrating that dedication and exceptional talent can lead to global recognition, cementing his legacy as one of football's most prolific and respected figures. It reinforces the idea that true greatness in sports is built on consistent, high-level performance and unwavering commitment to the game.
