Henrik Stenson's Ban Expiration and Eligibility
Henrik Stenson, who departed from LIV Golf in 2025 after being relegated, has confirmed that his PGA Tour ban is set to conclude imminently. Stenson stated, “From end of August, they removed my ankle bracelet, and I’ll be out of that one-year probation.” He further clarified, “I’m kind of reinstated as a member, and I’m free to play PGA TOUR sanctioned tournaments from the 25th of August this year.”
Regaining Status: The Challenges of Returning to the PGA Tour
While his ban may end in August, Stenson's return to the PGA Tour will not come with automatic playing status. To compete again, he will need to qualify through established pathways such as the DP World Tour, qualifying school, or the Korn Ferry Tour. The DP World Tour appears to be the most probable route for him to regain his standing on the PGA Tour.
Stenson's Vision for the 2027 Season
When questioned about his plans for a full schedule in 2027, Stenson expressed a degree of uncertainty. “Full schedule, I don’t know,” he responded. He anticipates playing a limited number of events towards the end of the current year and aims to formulate a comprehensive plan after December, taking into account his performance and personal well-being. Stenson is considering a defined playing window, perhaps from mid-February to mid-October, to allow for an off-season and more time at home, reflecting a desire for balance in his career and personal life.
