In a thrilling display of athleticism on Monday, June 1, 2026, Hillsdale County's finest track and field stars ascended to glory at the Division 3 state finals in Kent City. Logan Youngman, a junior from Hillsdale, delivered a stunning performance in the 3,200-meter run. Despite having only one previous win in the event earlier in the season, Youngman significantly surpassed his previous best, clocking an impressive 9:26.08. This exceptional time allowed him to pull ahead of Monroe St. Mary's Christian Craanen by three seconds, securing his first state title and all-state honor in track and field. His younger brother, Bryce Youngman, also competed, finishing 35th.
The triumphs continued with the Jonesville boys' 4x800 relay team, comprised of senior Nicholas Fowler, junior Collin Fucile, sophomore Ashton Potwin, and junior Caleb Blonde. This formidable quartet dominated their race from start to finish, recording a championship-winning time of 8:01.99, narrowly besting Ann Arbor Greenhills by a single second. Fowler's strong initial leg established an early lead, while Blonde's remarkable final lap sealed their victory. Blonde further distinguished himself with an individual all-state finish, securing third place in the 800-meter event.
Other notable performances included Ashton Thornsbury, a Hillsdale senior, who qualified for three individual events and achieved all-state recognition in the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles. Jonesville junior Reece Rundquist also showed strength in the 110 hurdles and high jump. Hillsdale senior Robert Garcia excelled in the high jump, while his teammate Nathaniel Moes made his mark in the long jump. Collin Fucile, in addition to his relay success, competed in the 3,200-meter run. Nicholas Fowler concluded his impressive Jonesville career with another strong finish in the 800-meter race, adding to his multiple all-state honors in both track and cross country.
