A remarkable display of unity and passion for football recently unfolded as Inter Milan hosted the fourth iteration of its "We Are Sport" inclusive football tournament. More than 100 athletes, representing a wide spectrum of abilities, converged at the Konami Youth Development Centre for a day of shared sporting exhilaration, centered around the powerful message of "We Are Sport."
Central to the event were Inter's specialized teams: a visually impaired football squad, developed in partnership with Real Eyes Sport; a powerchair football team, collaborating with Snakes Milano; and a team for players with cognitive disabilities, part of the FIGC Paralympic and Experimental Football Division, which was the first squad formally adopted by Inter and managed by ASD Sporting4E. These teams were joined by young aspiring players from Inter's youth sector, as well as various inclusive football organizations from the region, including the Bebe Vio Academy, Accademia Isola Bergamasca from the Inter Grassroots Program, and Calcio Integrato Cesano Maderno. For the Inter College students, this event served as a crucial component of their educational curriculum, deepening their understanding of disability and the profound value of inclusivity in sports, all within the framework of UEFA's anti-discrimination initiative, UEFA Outraged.
The tournament culminated with all participants sharing refreshments, thoughtfully prepared by Pit'sa, an inclusive catering service. Dignitaries such as President and CEO Giuseppe Marotta, Inter legends Lisa Alborghetti and Danilo D'Ambrosio, Chief of Staff Max Catanese, and Youth Sector Director Massimo Tarantino were present to welcome the athletes. U-Power, Inter's Official Back Jersey Partner, also provided support, distributing products to all attendees. This collaboration marked U-Power's inaugural involvement in one of the club's Corporate Social Responsibility projects, underscoring a shared commitment to values that affirm football's capacity to transcend differences, offering visibility and recognition to every form of inclusive football, for all abilities.
This initiative beautifully illustrates the unifying power of sport, demonstrating how shared passions can bridge divides and create a more equitable and understanding world. It's a testament to the fact that when we embrace diversity and champion inclusivity, communities thrive, and individuals are empowered to realize their full potential, both on and off the field.
