Vanderbilt baseball has announced the re-engagement of Travis Jewett in a pivotal new capacity: Director of Player Strategy and Personnel. This newly created role, akin to a general manager, will concentrate on critical areas including recruitment, Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) initiatives, and navigating the transfer portal to enhance the team's capabilities.
Jewett brings a wealth of experience, having previously served as the hitting coach and recruiting coordinator for the Commodores from 2013 to 2016. During his initial tenure, he was instrumental in attracting standout players such as Bryan Reynolds and JJ Bleday. Following his departure in 2016, Jewett took on the head coaching position at Tulane until 2022 and subsequently worked as an assistant coach at Southern California. His long-standing relationship with Vanderbilt and extensive background in collegiate baseball make him an ideal fit for this strategic role, as emphasized by Coach Tim Corbin, who cited Jewett's comprehensive understanding of program leadership and player development.
