Celebrating Athletic Excellence: Lansing's Soccer Stars Shine Bright
DeWitt's Dominance Reflected in All-State Honors
Following a stellar season that saw them clinch the CAAC Blue, CAAC Gold Cup, and district championships with an impressive 17-2 record, the DeWitt girls' soccer team has garnered substantial recognition. Four of their players received all-state honors in Division 2, with sophomore midfielder Madison McCarthy earning a spot on the second team. Junior defender Ava Hanus and sophomore forwards Ella Rogers and Addy Bertam were also recognized with honorable mentions, underscoring the team's collective strength and individual skill.
Regional Teams Showcase Talents Across Divisions
Beyond DeWitt, numerous other local schools celebrated their athletes' inclusion in the all-state teams. Grand Ledge's Hannah Hall (defender) and Lilli Nichols (goalkeeper) received honorable mention in Division 1, as did East Lansing's midfielder Eliana Rojas. Mason, a regional finalist, had four players honored in Division 2, including third-team selection Lexi Haynie and honorable mentions Paige Foster, Brooklyn Lockwood, and Brenna Budzynski. Haslett's Alex Sharrow also earned an honorable mention in Division 2, demonstrating the widespread talent pool in the region.
Division 3 and 4 Players Earn Well-Deserved Accolades
In Division 3, Eaton Rapids, reaching a regional final, saw Kennedie Crow named to the second team, supported by honorable mentions Delaney Collins, Addyson Schultz, and Hannah Garity. Williamston's Mady Kuehne was a third-team selection, with Kalli Stump and Elly Gorsline receiving honorable mentions. Olivet's Aly Priesman and Victoria Murphy, along with Portland's Lauren Spitzley, also earned notable mentions. Division 4 saw Ovid-Elsie's McKenzie Keck on the first team, alongside second-team honoree Madalynn Bushard and honorable mentions Sarah Newman, Kendal Tokar, and Dannika Campbell. Laingsburg's Payge Woodworth was a first-team selection, with Kiki Rusz on the third team, and Paige Erickson and Hailey Jury receiving honorable mentions. Bath's Emily Schneider and Jaydin Barber made the second team, while Alison Montri and Elektra Kotch earned honorable mentions. Finally, Lansing Christian's Evah Foster was recognized with an honorable mention in Division 4, rounding out a strong showing for Lansing area soccer talent.
