The spotlight shone brightly on quarterback Gio Lopez, whose exceptional debut saw him account for three touchdowns and accumulate 350 passing yards. This impressive display set a high standard for the team, indicating a promising season ahead under head coach Jake Dickert, who is now in his second year at the helm. The electrifying debut by Gio Lopez, a transfer from North Carolina, was central to Wake Forest's commanding win.
