Sparks Announce Leadership Change: Raegan Pebley Departs as General Manager

In a significant development for the WNBA team, the Los Angeles Sparks formally announced on Sunday, July 12, 2026, that they have concluded their association with General Manager Raegan Pebley. Pebley, 50, originally took the helm on January 5, 2024, after a distinguished 21-year career as a head coach for various collegiate teams including Utah State, Fresno State, and TCU.

During her time as General Manager, the Sparks' performance was varied. The 2024 season saw the team post an 8-32 record, followed by a 21-23 finish in 2025. In the current season, the team has recorded 10 wins and 11 losses. Notably, the team had recently found a rhythm, achieving a two-game winning streak after navigating a difficult stretch from June 15 to July 6, which included a 1-5 record.

Eric Holoman, the Sparks' managing partner and governor, extended his appreciation for Pebley's dedication and leadership. He emphasized the positive influence of her work on the team's roster development and overall player experience, wishing her well in her future endeavors. In the interim, assistant general managers Zach Knowlton and Nate Nielsen will collectively undertake the responsibilities of the General Manager position.

This managerial shift highlights the constant pursuit of excellence and strategic recalibration within professional sports. It underscores the high stakes involved in team leadership roles and the often-demanding expectations placed on individuals tasked with guiding a franchise. While Pebley's tenure had its challenges, her efforts in building the team's foundation are acknowledged, and the club now looks to its interim leadership to steer the Sparks toward continued success and stability on the court.
