Knitwear—whether wool, cashmere, or merino—is delicate yet versatile. With the right care, these pieces can last for many seasons, retaining softness, shape, and color. Boden's care guides emphasize gentle handling as key to maintaining quality.

Spot Care & Freshening Between Wears
You don’t need to wash a knit after every wear. Wool in particular has natural antibacterial properties and can “self-refresh” in air. For small marks or spills, spot clean with gentle detergent and cool water rather than washing the whole garment.

Gentle Washing Techniques
Always check the garment’s care label first. Many Boden knits (especially cashmere) are machine washable, but on delicate cycles only. Use cold or lukewarm water, a mild detergent, and avoid bleach or harsh chemicals. Turn the garment inside out before washing to protect the exterior.

Drying & Reshaping
After washing, gently roll the knit in a clean towel to press out excess water, without wringing or twisting. Lay the piece flat on a dry towel in its original shape, smoothing sleeves, seams, and edges. Never hang a heavy wet knit, as it may stretch out of shape.

Storage: Fold, Don’t Hang
To preserve shape and avoid shoulder bumps, knits—especially cashmere—should be folded, not hung. Store them in breathable containers or sealed bags, and consider using cedar balls or other moth deterrents.

Dealing with Pilling
It’s normal for fine fibers (like cashmere) to develop little bobbles—called pills—on the surface. Rather than seeing them as flaws, gently remove them with a quality electric de-bobbling tool or fabric comb.

Between seasons, let your Boden's knits rest. Air them occasionally in fresh space (but away from direct sunlight). Ensure garments are completely clean before storing long term, so that stains don’t attract insects.
