Maryland Lacrosse Celebrates Eight All-American Selections

On Thursday, May 8, 2026, the University of Maryland’s lacrosse teams received a prestigious announcement: a combined eight players were named USA Lacrosse All-Americans. The women's team, despite a season marked by varied performances, saw five of its members earn accolades. Among these, Kori Edmondson and JJ Suriano were celebrated as first-team All-Americans. Edmondson, a senior, showcased her continued prowess by being selected as the fourth overall pick in the inaugural WLL draft and amassed an impressive 44 goals leading into the NCAA Tournament. Suriano, the team’s goalkeeper, achieved her first-team honor with a stellar 51.7% save percentage, a notable improvement from her sophomore year, as she prepares to guide the Terps in their pursuit of a 16th national championship. Joining them, Lauren LaPointe and Kayla Gilmore were recognized on the All-American third team, both enjoying breakout seasons. LaPointe spearheaded the offense with a team-leading 59 goals, while Gilmore dominated the draw circle with 106 controls. Defender Maddy Sterling, also a WLL draftee, received an honorable mention, highlighting her crucial role in Maryland’s defensive line ahead of their upcoming Sunday match.

For the men's team, three players were honored, led by senior long-stick midfielder AJ Larkin, who secured a second-team mention. Larkin's impact was significant, contributing 40 ground balls and eight turnovers in his final season. Henry Dodge, another second-team All-American, received an additional year of eligibility, promising his return as the primary faceoff specialist after winning 68% of his attempts in 2026. Attackman Leo Johnson earned an honorable mention following his selection in the final round of the PLL draft by the Utah Archers. Johnson consistently led Maryland’s offense with 29 goals and 18 assists, boasting a 36.7% shooting percentage. However, the other four PLL draftees from Maryland did not make the All-American cut.

This widespread recognition not only honors the individual athletes for their dedication and skill but also reinforces the University of Maryland's reputation as a powerhouse in collegiate lacrosse. Such achievements inspire future generations of student-athletes and underscore the rigorous training and competitive spirit fostered within the programs.
