Prior to the injury, the 6-foot-5 guard, celebrated as a five-star recruit, had demonstrated his exceptional skills during the initial two games of Michigan's European tour in Lithuania, where he averaged an impressive 14.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.0 steals.
McCoy Jr., at just 18 years old, was a highly anticipated addition to the Michigan roster, ranked as the No. 10 overall prospect nationally in the Class of 2026 by 247Sports Composite. His impressive high school career at California's Sierra Canyon School included being named a McDonald's All-American and MaxPreps Player of the Year in his senior year.
