Among the standout performers was Elijah Mallard, a junior at Syracuse and a Washingtonville alumnus, who secured 19th place in the preliminary 400-meter hurdles with a time of 50.63 seconds, earning him a spot in Friday's subsequent round. On Thursday, New Paltz graduate Aidan Ifkovits, a sophomore from Tennessee, competed in the hammer throw, finishing 18th with a distance of 211 feet, 5 inches, though he did not advance to the next stage. The women's events also featured significant achievements, with Goshen graduate Emma Wapshare, a senior at Vermont, delivering a stellar performance in the javelin, placing 11th with a throw of 166 feet, 9 inches, thereby qualifying for the NCAA national championships. Army junior Mikayla Cheney further distinguished herself by posting the ninth-best time in the 1500 meters, clocking in at 4:11.25, which allowed her to advance to Saturday's final round.
