During the period of August 17th to 22nd, numerous talented young women showcased their athletic prowess in high school sports throughout Mississippi. Only one, however, can be selected as the Clarion Ledger's top female athlete for the week. Enthusiasts are encouraged to cast their votes hourly per device, with the polling concluding at noon on Friday.
Highlighting some of the week's remarkable talents, Kristen Bailey from Brandon demonstrated her strength with 34 kills and 20 blocks over four matches. Kate Denman of Lewisburg proved her versatility, achieving 66 kills and 22 digs across eight matches. Emerson Dorr, representing Madison-Ridgeland Academy, delivered an impressive performance with 14 aces, 97 kills, and 45 digs through seven matches in three days. Malorie King from George County dominated with 150 kills, 124 digs, and 34 aces in eight matches over three days. Rounding out the nominations, Lylah Menefee of Presbyterian Christian excelled with 52 kills, 21 digs, and seven aces in her three matches.
