The Mizzou Tigers are set to host a remarkable 15 home games at the Hearnes Center this season, marking their most extensive home schedule since 2023. This includes two early-season tournaments where seven visiting teams will compete in Columbia. This home-court advantage is crucial, especially when facing formidable opponents such as Oregon, Florida, Texas, and Texas A&M. Last season, Mizzou's NCAA Tournament aspirations were hindered by unexpected losses to Vanderbilt and Ole Miss in the SEC Tournament. This year, the Tigers have an early chance to redeem themselves by facing these teams at the start of the season, hosting Vanderbilt and traveling to Oxford. Securing wins in these initial SEC matches is vital for building momentum and overcoming past setbacks.
A particularly challenging period for the Tigers will be from October 30 to November 8, when they confront the top four teams from last season's SEC standings. This demanding stretch begins with an away game against Kentucky, a team Sullivan has yet to defeat and Mizzou hasn't overcome since 2016. Following this, the Tigers will enjoy three consecutive home games against Tennessee, Texas, and Texas A&M, where their home advantage will be critical in these crucial matchups.
Another pivotal three-game series spans from October 9 to 18, featuring four consecutive home games against mid-table SEC teams. The most significant of these is against Florida, an opponent that has historically troubled Sullivan's teams. To maintain a .500 or better record in SEC play for the fourth consecutive season, the Tigers must secure at least three, if not all four, wins during this crucial phase of their schedule.
